"Vides projekti" Ltd ensure the use of the Riga hydropower station reservoir’s engineering-protection buildings in the frame of project.
Aim of the project is to fortify and monitor the Daugava hydropower stations reservoirs’ eroded coasts in order to limit the influence of the Daugava hydropower reservoirs on th eerosion of the coasts within the zone of influence of the hydropower station and to ensure the use of Riga hydropower station’s engineering-protection buildings.
Expluatation and maintenance works in stations Ogre-1, Ogre-2, Ogre-4, Ikskile-1, Ikskile-2, Ciemupe and Tome are necessary to ensure inhabitants of Ogre and Ikskile regions and also different nationally important objects (roads, purification devices, cultural and historical objects) from flooding. It is important because the level of water in hydropower stations reservoirs is higher than buildings and objects in the zone of stations.
Agreement with state owned company "Zemkopības Ministrijas Nekustamie Īpašumi" foresees that expluatation of the Riga hydropower station reservoir’s engineering-protection buildings is ensured in the amount of 413 000 LVL.
Riga hydropower station’s engineering-protection buildings
Riga hydropower station reservoir’s engineering-protection building complex or polder system contains: -eight pumping plants -a reservoir pier 8,4 km long; -a deep drain 10,8 km long.
Riga hydropower station’s engineering-protection buildings’ polder system’s operation began in 1975 and 1976 at the same time as the Riga hydropower station.
Engineering-protection buildings are made to ensure that the territories around the hydropower station’s reservoir are not overflowed and flooded, and have the optimal level of groundwater for economic activities there.
Riga hydropower station reservoir’s normal level of adjustment is NUL – 18.0m. Land surface indicators of protected (water pumped) territories are starting from 14.0m
Riga hydropower station’s engineering-protection building – pumping plant "Ogre-1" protects from overflowing and flooding: - Ogre city territory of 420 ha; - Territories to be used for agriculture around Ogre city of 200 ha. |
