From 18 until 19 October 2007 closing conference of ENMaR Project will take place in Riga. The purpose of the conference is to inicite municipalities to participate actively in the process of implementation of WFD. About 150 participants are planned for the conference representing local involved parties from river basin regional territories of Emån (Sweden), Gauja (Latvia), Mersey (UK), Miño (Spain) and Weser (Germany).

Since April 2005 within the project "European network of Municipalities and Rivers" (ENMAR) process of implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) is monitored on local level. Within a period of less than three years more than 40 seminars have been organized in the project partner regions, subjects covered include spatial planning, water services, tourism, also forest management, agriculture and relation of those to WFD and regional development.

The Program of the Conference:
• On 18 October in the conference location ("Maritime" Hotel, Riga) we would like to inform participants on key conclusions, good practice examples and recommendations to municipalities. We have planned presentations and discussions from 9:30 to 17:00. For better communication of the conference participants, simultaneous interpretation is provided (English – Latvian and English – Spanish). See the Agenda of the Conference enclosed.
• On 18 October at 18:00 the participants will go for a guided tour in Vecrīga, at 20:00 – collective dinner for participants.
• On 19 October a visit will be organized to the ENMaR project territory in Latvia – Gauja river basin area. (Organized bus tour: departure 8:30 from the hotel, return ~17:30). Discussion after the tour on water management issues (Ministry of Environment Building, Peldu Street 25, Riga)
