On Friday, June 15, "Vides projekti" Ltd. within the framework of the project "Baltic Biomass Network" organizes an excursion to the Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava" in Salaspils and plantation of fast growing aspens in the parish of Rembate.
There will be an opportunity to see the Laboratory of Plant Physiology of the Latvian State Forest Research Institute (LSFRI) "Silava", to interview the specialists on the issues of breeding of fast growing aspen trees, reproduction technologies, development of plantations and afforestration of agricultural territories. In the parish of Rembate a real plantation of the fast growing aspens will be visited.
The visit tour in cooperation with the LSFRI "Silava" and cofinanced by the EU initiative programme INTERREG III B is organized without any participation fee.
"Baltic Biomass Network" is a project of Baltic Sea Region INTERREG III B Partnership Programme. It works on regional planning level with local municipalities, biomass producers and bioenergy investors, in order to develop optimum biomass production schemes, based on geographic information systems, to mobilize biomass resources and to plan sustainable bioenergy investment projects.
We also inform that shortly study "Necessity of Fast Growing Tree Plantations; Assessment of Development Options in Latvia", developed under the mentioned project will be available soon.

Transportation will be provided for the participants: on 15 June, departure at 9.00 hours from Riga (Krasta Street near the Anglican Church) and return at about 14.00 hours.
