Winners of the contests of "SPICĀ" and "Dabas taka" awarded

On 29 September in Riga Zoo winners and the most active participants of two contests devoted to the 10th anniversary of the Latvian Environment Protection Fund were awarded. The contests were organized by the long-term cooperation partners of the Latvian Environment Protection Fund – the television series "Dabas taka" and the magazine "SPICĀ". One of the ways how the Environmental Protection Fund facilitates the environmental education and teaching of the young generation is by supporting mass media and publishing industry in the field of environemntal education. During the contest questions were asked related to the Latvian Environment Protection Fund, nature and environment protection. Both competitions won great responisveness, the participants were children, teenagers and adults. Pleasant moment is that contest participants demonstrated real interest and good knowledge.

The most active participants and the winners – Ausma and Austris Cīrulnieki from Ranka of Gulbene Region, Rihards Kalniņš from Zvārtava Parish of Alūksne Region, Monta Derveniece from Madona Region, Kristaps Stikuts from Aizkraukle Region, Solvita Dalinkeviča from Riga, Ina Kubile from Dobele Region, Inese Ļaka from Jūrmala, Aigars Vinogradovs from Olaine – were greeted by Agnese Ērgle, the chief editor of the magazine “SPICĀ” and by Gunta Ozola from the TV series "Dabas taka".

Jānis Rudzītis, the deputy director of the Administration of the Latvian Environment Protection Fund and Raimonds Vējonis, the Minister for Environment, expressed their gratitude to the contest participants by presenting the anniversary edition of the Latvian Environment Protection Fund "Ar sirdi un prātu" ("With Heart and Mind"), which is the first attempt to appraise achievements of the last decade in the field of environment protection in Latvia, reached by the support of the Fund.

The participants of the event were presented with the Seal Show of the Riga Zoo followed by the narration on life and skills of seals by Ingmārs Līdaka.
This year the Latvian Environment Protection Fund celebrates its 10th anniversary. In order to advance the recognizability of the Fund and to attract new environmental project promoters and executors, the media, that has several years cooperation history with the Latvian Environment Protection Fund, organize educational / informational contests for their readers.
