The anniversary edition of the Environmental Protection Fund – “With Heart and Mind” ("Ar sirdi un prātu") have been issued. It is the first attempt to appraise the achievements of the last decade in the field of environment protection in Latvia, reached by the assistance of the Fund. The book provides a brief overview on the issues of air, water and nature protection, waste management, environmental education and on contribution of the Latvian Environment Protection Fund by involving itself in the projects funded by Latvian government and Europe.The author of the text is Mrs.Sandra Urtāne, the coordinator of the Advisory Board of the Latvian Environment Protection Fund. The colours of the book were provided both by professional photographers and by archives of amateurs, whose works visually were adjusted and artistically improved by Zane Rubene.

The publication is targeted mainly on high school students, teachers, municipality officers and on general public, interested to extend their knowledge on issues of environment protection. The CD version of the book is enclosed, to enable wider use of the information. Fragments of the book, quotations and photos can be copied and used for development of educational materials, just adding a reference to the book. In cooperation with the Centre for Curriculum Development and Examinations the publication will be delivered to all Latvian schools. Starting with the second half of October it will be available in all libraries in Latvia.

The authors of the book hope that information and examples provided in it will provide inspiration and incentives for new ideas of environment improvement in Latvia and will motivate people from all regions of Latvia to prepare project proposals for submitting to the Latvian Environment Protection Fund.
