Under the 1st phase of the project "Capacity raising of the Ministry of Ecology and Nature resources of the Republic of Moldova on significant nature protection issues" the officials of the structures of the Ministry of Ecology and Nature resources of the Republic of Moldova from 10 to 16 September will visit Latvia. During the visit training of the mentioned officials in two specific areas of nature protection will be organized. Four of the ministry system officials will be educated on the issues of biodiversity and conservation of nature resources, the other three – on the issues of waste management. The knowledge acquired will be enforced during the project, by its practical application for development of the "home assignment" prepared by the Latvian party.

The training period will be one week and will include both theoretical and practical part. The program participants will visit the Ministry of Environment, the state enterprise "Vides projekti" SIA, the Administration of the Latvian Environment Protection Fund, the Nature Protection Board, the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve, the Natural History Museum of Latvia, the solid waste disposal landfill "Daibe", the hazardous waste incinerator in Olaine, the household waste disposal landfill in "Getliņi", the Environment State Bureau, the State Environmental Service, etc.

For more effective use educational materials necessary to the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Resources of the Republic of Moldova will be identified during the visit. Training of the responsible officials of the Republic of Moldova will enhance the capacity of the ministry system, thus in general contributing to the state administration development in Moldova.
