On the April 4 campaign against "Burning" the old grass was started in Latvia. The minister of the Environment of the Republic of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis invited representatives from different ministries, institutions and organisations to participate in coordination meeting to discuss and harmonize actions in frame of the campaign.

After coordination meeting all organisations started to implement their activities and actions. Information materials were developed by state owned enterprise “Environmental projects” in cooperation with Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Latvia and Ministry of the Interior and were disseminated in all territory of Latvia with the help of State joint stock company “Latvijas Pasts”, State Joint Stock Company "Latvian Railway", Joint Stock Company „Pasažieru vilciens” and the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments. The centre for curriculum development and examinations helped to disseminate information materials in all schools of Latvia, Latvian ornithologist society and The Latvian rural advisory and training centre disseminated materials with the help of their regional groups. Materials were delivered to all nature protection territories.

On 8th of April Latvian televisions started to demonstrate video-clip inviting people not to burn the old grass. Video clip was produced in year 2005 by the Film Studio of the state owned enterprise „Environmental projects” (director Dainis Kļava).

On 10th of April the Ministry of the Interior in cooperation with company “If Latvia”, Environment protection club and State firefighting and rescue service started the patrol service in all Latvia in order to prevent burning the old grass.
