The increased use of bioenergy both in Latvia and other European countries, has brought into focus the need for the sustained use of renewable energy resources and also sustained bioenergy investment . Spatial planning has an important role to play in assessing current and potential bioenergy resources and in developing a strategy on renewable energy in the region.
