Within the framework of the project “Development of Water Management in 14 Municipalities of Kurzeme region” (CCI 2004/LV/16/C/PA/002) meetings were held at the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Latvia between 11/1/06 and 12/1/06 with the 14 municipalities involved in the project: those of Saldus, Broceni, Kandava, Stende, Talsi, Dundaga, Roja, Ugale, Kuldiga, Skrunda, Aizpute, Grobina, Priekule and Vainode and also the implementation unit of the project – statne “Environmental Projects” Ltd. and an executor - partnership "Fichtner GmbH&Co.KG." and "VentEko" Ltd.

There a shared understanding was achieved during these meetings over the tasks required to carry out the project and the final scope of investment components between all parties involved. Also property rights issues , which are hindering preparation work of construction plans, were discussed as well as other municipal issues. These meetings were of strategic importance to the further advance of the project because a decision will be made on the operational parameters of the technical project – geographical location, technical solutions etc. in every local government, on the basis of decisions made at these meetings.
